It’s a start …

It has been a long time since I wanted to have a blog but could not really motivate myself to create one. First, I did not want to use any external blog providers, they all have their limitations and constraints that I did not want to deal with, second, there was an option to host it in “the cloud” and have all the benefits of integration but could not justify the cost, and third, setting-up your own hosting environment is risky and time-consuming but extremely rewarding and challenging, in short, bunch of excuses.

So, here I am, with a brand new blog on my server. I will attempt to cover some of the issues and challenges I ran into during setup (I am still a geek after all) but mainly I would like to post about my photography adventures.

Photography has been my point of interest for a prolonged time now, I was always fascinated by the level of artistic and personal expression it allows one to achieve. There are infinite ways individuals can capture and present the subject that will allow audience to glimpse into the author’s mind. I like to think that it is on par with book writing but for the people who choose different way of telling a story.

Photography, as a powerful medium of expression and communications, offers an infinite variety of perception, interpretation and execution.

Considering myself less than mediocre in the field of photography, I enjoy learning process immensely and do not feel pressured to produce perfection, It is not for profit after all. Main point is to enjoy the process while developing skill and getting better at it. World is full of talented people who are kind enough to share their art on the Internet for all to see, that is where I often find inspiration when my own is lacking.

You can’t wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club.

Inspiration plays a huge role in this form of expression (and likely in any other forms), and at times, when finding it seems impossible, I like to just go out with the camera and capture whatever comes my way. End product of such exercise is seldom useful but that is not the purpose.

Also, and in no small part, having the right gear for the right job and the one that you enjoy to use (disregarding specs), is one of the keys to be able to express yourself fully. Choose your gear wisely. I hope to cover some of my struggles to choose the right gear in the future posts.

Hope that I will see you on this blog often, that you will enjoy reading my posts and articles, and most of all I wish that you will enjoy the pictures that you will see. Thank you and till the next time.
